Exporting from India to Vietnam: use product-specific procedure research

Connect Vietnamese classification, customs procedures, product controls, and origin evidence to the actual shipment rather than a generic country checklist.

Research the goods through official repositories

Prepare the product specification, intended use, materials, proposed code, manufacturer, and packing format. Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade maintains the Vietnam National Trade Repository, with procedures, tariff information, rules of origin, and non-tariff measures. Use those product-specific resources to build questions for the Vietnamese importer.

The Vietnam Trade Information Portal also organizes commercial-import topics such as registration, restrictions, permits, product checks, and customs declarations. Ask the importer to confirm the current procedure and responsible agency for the goods. Some pages are presented in Vietnamese; use a qualified local review where language or legal interpretation could affect the shipment.

  • Start with a full specification rather than a broad product name.
  • Record the Vietnamese classification and edition used.
  • Confirm which product authority, if any, is involved.

Check origin and declaration arrangements

Ask who will prepare the electronic customs declaration and which shipment documents it needs. Keep the agreed product description consistent across the quotation, invoice, packing list, and any supporting certificates. Clarify whether a test, inspection, registration, or other approval must be completed before shipment.

If preferential treatment under an applicable agreement is proposed, confirm the exact product rule and accepted proof of origin. India dispatch is not enough to resolve every eligibility question. Keep a non-preferential cost scenario until the importer has reviewed the evidence and current treatment.

Prepare a usable quotation

Request transport quotes using the same port, final delivery endpoint, shipment date, package groups, and weight. Show destination handling and unresolved clearance or product-check charges separately. Use Traderoz’s project and document tools to keep the assumptions together, then ask the importer or its representative to review the current requirement checklist before collection.

  • Save the official procedure links with the review date.
  • Resolve language-sensitive product requirements locally.
  • Recheck final documents against the actual packed shipment.
