Exporting from India to the UAE: emirate, origin, and delivery checks
Confirm where the goods enter the UAE, who clears them, and whether a claimed CEPA preference has the required product and origin support.
Specify the destination arrangement
Record the emirate, port or airport, final delivery point, and importing entity. Ask whether the goods are intended for the local market, a free-zone operation, or onward movement. Those are different commercial scenarios and should not share an unexplained delivered-price assumption. Dubai Customs’ declaration service identifies several movement regimes; use the regime relevant to the actual shipment.
Ask the UAE customer or its customs representative to confirm business registration, clearance access, product approvals, and the required document set. Record any request for attestation or a particular invoice format before documents are issued. A quotation should identify who arranges each clearance and delivery step.
- Name the emirate and final endpoint.
- Clarify local consumption versus re-export intentions.
- Confirm the importing entity and clearance contact.
Research CEPA eligibility independently
India-UAE CEPA is a reason to investigate preferential treatment, not a reason to enter zero duty automatically. Check the actual tariff line, product-specific origin requirement, documentary proof, and current implementation guidance. DGFT’s trade notice describes an electronic preferential certificate-of-origin process for exports under the agreement.
Collect manufacturing and input-origin information early if a preferential claim is proposed. Dispatch from India alone does not answer every origin question. Ask the customer to confirm what evidence it needs and who will retain it. Keep a standard-treatment cost scenario alongside the preferential scenario until eligibility is supported.
Quote a complete, dated shipment
Use identical package groups and delivery assumptions when requesting transport quotes. Show goods value, freight, insurance, handling, local delivery, and unresolved destination charges separately. Agree a quotation validity date and currency-conversion assumption. Use Traderoz’s RFQ and document builders to keep the description and quantity consistent, then obtain transaction-specific review before the consignment is dispatched.
- Save the origin evidence supporting any preference.
- Have the customer review final invoice and packing details.
- Check current emirate-specific services and approvals.
