Exporting from India to Saudi Arabia: clearance and conformity planning
Ask the Saudi importer to connect its clearance arrangements with the product-specific conformity pathway before production and dispatch.
Start with the Saudi importing party
Record the customer’s legal business identity and the person responsible for clearance. ZATCA’s customs journey directs traders to registration on FASAH and includes customs-broker authorization. Ask the customer which arrangements are already in place and which responsibilities it expects the exporter to fulfil.
Obtain the exact product description, composition, intended use, and proposed destination classification. A broad description such as electrical goods or food ingredients is not enough to complete product research. Keep commercial registration questions, customs classification, and sector approvals as distinct items in the project.
- Identify the importer and authorized clearance contact.
- Confirm the port, final delivery location, and requested document language.
- Collect the specification before promising a delivery date.
Research the conformity route early
Saber is the Saudi platform for product registration and conformity and shipment-certificate processes. Ask the importer or its qualified conformity representative whether the specific product is covered and what evidence is required. The existence of the platform does not mean one certificate type or one process applies to every product.
Check any proposed test report or certificate against the actual manufacturer, product model, scope, and validity. Agree who arranges testing or review and who bears the cost. Resolve packaging, marking, and supporting-document requirements before manufacturing the final order, since a late change can alter both price and schedule.
Build a delivery estimate with unresolved items visible
Request freight and local-service quotations using the same shipment measurements and endpoint. Show transport, handling, customs charges, and any conformity-related costs separately. Ask the importer to confirm current duties and tax treatment rather than using a universal percentage. Use Traderoz to save the assumptions and create the RFQ, then have the responsible Saudi parties approve the current document and clearance checklist before dispatch.
- Check FASAH arrangements and any broker authorization.
- Confirm the applicable Saber or other sector process.
- Do not interpret a cost estimate as product approval.
