Exporting from India to Germany: EU entry and German delivery

Connect EU product and tariff research with the actual customs entry point, German importing party, and final delivery responsibilities.

Separate entry into the EU from final delivery

A customer in Germany may receive goods that enter through a German port or through another EU location. Record the intended entry point, customs procedure, and final destination rather than assuming the shipping route and clearance location are identical. Germany’s federal service portal describes online import-declaration access for goods arriving from outside the EU.

Ask the German customer or its representative to confirm the importing entity, registration details, and declaration arrangements. Keep those operational questions separate from the export documents prepared in India. A freight quotation to an EU port may omit later clearance, storage, or delivery services needed to reach the customer.

  • Identify the EU entry point and German delivery endpoint.
  • Name the party responsible for import formalities.
  • Ask whether transit or onward movement changes the service scope.

Use EU product-specific research

Use the European Commission’s Access2Markets service with the product and origin details. Its trade assistant provides a route into tariff, origin, and product-condition research. Read the measures applying to the actual goods, and ask the customer about labelling, conformity, or other sector-specific requirements before accepting its specification.

Do not apply a generic EU duty or German tax assumption to every product. Record the commodity-code version, origin, effective date, and any conditions behind a rate. Product compliance and the commercial cost calculation are separate checks; a favourable tariff does not demonstrate that a product is ready for the market.

Prepare the quote and document review

Create a common cost endpoint for comparing offers and freight providers. Use packed measurements, gross weight, expected shipment date, and the agreed delivery rule. Have the customer review descriptions and supporting evidence before dispatch. Save unresolved requirements as actions in the Traderoz project, and replace provisional amounts with the broker’s or provider’s confirmed estimates as the shipment becomes ready.

  • Review the full route rather than only the ocean freight leg.
  • Keep EU product research with the customer-approved specification.
  • Confirm invoice and packing-list consistency before collection.
